Seed Technology Industry Ltd began in 2013 with a single conviction — that Northern Nigeria, already one of West Africa’s great soybean-growing belts, deserved a processor that treated the bean with the craftsmanship it had always deserved.

Our facility in Kirimbo Village, Challawa, runs solvent extraction lines engineered for consistency. Beans arrive from surrounding farms; what leaves our gates is a high- protein meal built for the feed mill and a crude oil calibrated for the refinery.

A second line refines, bleaches and deodorises that oil into a clean, vitamin-E-rich cooking grade destined for Nigerian kitchens and food manufacturers across the region. Every tonne leaves the facility with a laboratory certificate — numbers we stand behind.

From bean to barrel, in five movements.

Solvent extraction is a century-old craft refined by modern engineering. Here is how Nigerian soybeans become meal, crude and refined oil at Challawa.

  1. 01

    Cultivation

    Soybeans sourced from farms across Northern Nigeria — a region whose soil and sun have produced the bean for generations.

  2. 02

    Cleaning & Conditioning

    Beans are mechanically cleaned, sized and conditioned to the precise moisture required for efficient oil release.

  3. 03

    Crushing & Flaking

    Tempered beans are crushed between fluted rolls and flaked thin — the surface area that makes extraction possible.

  4. 04

    Solvent Extraction

    Flakes pass through a counter-current hexane bath. Oil miscella is drawn off; the hexane is recovered and reused.

  5. 05

    Refining & Milling

    Crude oil moves to refining; meal is toasted, cooled and ground — two finished products from a single bean.
